Iron Man 2

Sorry I’m a bit late to this but I’m throwing a quick review up anyway. Iron Man 2 takes off directly where the original left off. Tony Stark has publicly outed himself as Iron Man and is doing the superhero rounds. Introduced is Whiplash (Mickey Rourke), a crazy Russian bloke who used to work with Stark senior and is looking for revenge (or something like that). If you think the new characters stop there then you’re very much mistaken. We are introduced to Starks business rival Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell) and Starks new assistant Natasha (Scarlett Johansson) – and I’ve yet to mention the awkward setting up of the Avengers spin off. All of these needless characters and over-plotting are a shame because director Jon Favreau definitely has a better handle of action scenes than he had 3 years ago with the original. Needless to say, I still had a bunch of fun with the movie. Go see it,  just don’t pay much attention to the nonsense exposition.

Rating: 6.5/10
